The Houston Texans placed offensive lineman Geron Christian Sr., running back Buddy Howell and wide receiver Taywan Taylor on the COVID-19 list Tuesday.
In addition, the team released veteran wideout Donte Moncrief with a non-football injury designation.
Christian and Taylor are entering their first seasons with the Texans. Houston claimed Christian, 24, off waivers from Washington in May after Christian's brief stint as the team's starting left tackle.
Christian, Washington's third-round draft pick in 2018, played 24 games in three seasons for the team and made eight starts, including six starts last year. He suffered a knee injury during Week 6 and was eventually moved to injured reserve for the remainder of the season.
Taylor signed with the Texans in free agency after two seasons with the Tennessee Titans (2017-18) and two with the Cleveland Browns (2019-20). In 35 career games (10 starts), Taylor has 53 receptions for 697 yards and two touchdowns, but he did not catch a pass in his two years with Cleveland.
Howell is entering his fourth NFL campaign, all with Houston. He saw the most opportunity of his short career during 2020, when he took 16 carries for 64 yards over 14 appearances.
Moncrief signed a one-year deal with the Texans in the early stages of free agency and was looking to catch on with his sixth NFL club. Known best for his first four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts (2014-17), Moncrief then bounced around with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2018), Pittsburgh Steelers (2019), Carolina Panthers (2019) and New England Patriots (2020).
In 83 career games, Moncrief has caught 205 passes for 2,576 yards and 21 touchdowns. He hasn't found the end zone since the 2018 season.
It was not revealed what injury Moncrief had suffered. The Texans acquired wide receiver Anthony Miller from the Chicago Bears on Monday.
