Less than 24 hours after being let go by the Dallas Cowboys, Kellen Moore landed a new job.
The Los Angeles Chargers hired Moore as their next offensive coordinator on Monday.
Moore replaces Joe Lombardi, fired by the Chargers earlier this month after the Chargers squandered a 27-point lead in a 31-30 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in an AFC wild-card game.
The Chargers' passing offense -- led by star Justin Herbert -- ranked third in the NFL (269.6 yards per game), the total offense was ninth (359.3), and the team finished 13th in points (23.0) this season.
Moore, 34, had been a player and coach with the Cowboys since 2015. He spent the final three years of his six-year NFL playing career as a backup quarterback for Dallas.
After working in 2018 as the Cowboys' quarterback coach, Moore was promoted to offensive coordinator and spent the past four seasons in that role. However, head coach Mike McCarthy announced what he called a mutual parting with Moore on Sunday.
The Cowboys went 12-5 in the 2022 regular season and earned their second straight playoff trip. After beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-14 in the wild-card round, they fell 19-12 to the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.
With Moore as coordinator, Dallas ranked fourth in the NFL in scoring offense in 2022 with 27.5 points per game.
