The Chicago Sky signed veteran free agent center/forward Elizabeth Williams on Friday.
According to reports, Williams received a two-year deal that will pay her $135,000 each season.
Williams has career averages of 8.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots over eight WNBA seasons with the Connecticut Sun (2015), Atlanta Dream (2016-21) and Washington Mystics (2022). She was an All-Star in 2017.
"We are so excited to have Elizabeth in a Chicago Sky uniform," Sky general manager/coach James Wade said in a news release. "For as long as she's been in the league, she's been the epitome of a player that is a hard worker, a great leader and embodies the values of the WNBA. We know that she will be a valuable piece to everything that we are creating in Chicago."
Williams, 29, averaged 5.4 and 3.8 rebounds in 30 games off the bench last season for Washington.
The signing of Williams comes after Chicago lost stars Candace Parker and Courtney Vandersloot in free agency. Azura Stevens also departed as a free agent and 3-point bomber Allie Quigley (who is married to Vandersloot) has decided to take the 2023 season off.
The Sky won the WNBA title in 2021. Last season, they tied for the best regular-season record at 26-10 before losing to Connecticut in the playoff semifinals.
