BEIJING, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.44 percent to 3,251.40 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.12 percent higher at 11,647.94 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.13 trillion yuan (about 164.4 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.07 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks in the medical instrument and electronic information sectors led the gains, while shares related to roads and bridges, as well as aircraft manufacturing, suffered the biggest losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.17 percent to close at 2,398.02 points on Monday.
